LODGE HAS LEFT NOTHING TO FEAR
American Senator Did Not Propose the Buying of St. Pierre and Miquelon.
Ottawa, Dec. 12 – A statement recently appeared attributed to Senator H. C. Lodge of the United States Senate advocating the acquisition by the United States of the French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon, which are situated almost in British waters, and not far distant from Newfoundland.
Senator Lodge has written : « I have seen an alleged statement of mine as to the annexation of St.-Pierre and Miquelon. I never made any such statements whatever as to St. Pierre and Miquelon »
